What PingMyLawyer is

PingMyLawyer is a communication service. When you sign our authorization, we contact the law firm handling your personal injury case and ask them for status updates, and we pass their answers back to you. That is the whole service.

What PingMyLawyer is not

We are not a law firm. We are not your attorney. We do not give legal advice, we do not evaluate your case, and we do not tell your firm how to handle it. Using this service does not create an attorney client relationship between you and us. Nothing we send you is legal advice, including anything your firm tells us that we pass on.

The authorization

Before we contact anyone we ask you to sign an authorization. It is narrow on purpose. It lets us request status information and nothing else. It does not let us settle your case, accept or reject an offer, instruct your firm, sign anything for you, or receive money for you. You can withdraw it at any time from your case page, and when you do we stop immediately and tell your firm we have stopped.

Your side of it

What we do and do not promise

We promise to send the messages, make the calls, and show you exactly what came back. We cannot promise your firm will answer, and we cannot make them. We are not responsible for what your firm does or fails to do on your case, and we are not responsible for any deadline in your case. Your case deadlines remain between you and your attorney.

Referrals to another attorney

If your firm will not respond, or you are unhappy for any other reason, you can ask us to introduce you to a different personal injury firm. That introduction is optional and free to you. We may be paid by a firm that accepts an introduction. Being introduced is not a recommendation that you change lawyers, and we do not tell you that one attorney is better than another. Choosing and changing attorneys is entirely your decision, and you are free to choose any attorney you want.

Cost

The service is free to clients. There is no fee and no card on file.

Ending it

You can close your case with us at any time. We can also decline or end service, for example where the authorization looks invalid, where the firm tells us it disputes it, or where the service is being misused.
